It’s good to see the Wall St. Journal taking this issue of influence where there is little to no authority seriously. See Erin White’s article titled, “Art of Persuasion Becomes Key: Managers Sharpen Their Skills as Line Of Authority Blurs”.

All too often, managers and team leaders find themselves in the situation of trying to create change from the end of a limb of improvisation and reaction rather than rooting their communication firmly in the principles of persuasion.
